Malcolm grew up in Sheffield, has lived and worked in Australia and the Middle-East but now lives in Cheshire, England. He is a prolific and award-winning author who writes both novels and short fiction. He has, in the past, worked in a variety of genres but now specialises in historical fiction.

Two novels, The Honey Talker and The Fatal Formula are crime stories with a difference set in 1990s Manchester and are published by Northodox Press.

Others, including LMF, The Way Back, Leviathan, Eleven Days and Three Brothers have an aviation theme and are set in WW1 or WW2.

During 2024 he is due to publish four novels, three that are brand new and one which is a new edition.

The reissue is Contrail, an espionage romp set in 1950s Italy. It will be accompanied by its sequel, Czechmate where the intrigue and danger is spread across Europe, both East and West.

The second pair is a new series set in wartime neutral Lisbon. In Lisbon '41, ex-cop Dinis Lopes is tasked with finding something - he doesn't know what - in the city that both warring parties are willing to kill for. In the sequel, The Queen of Lisbon, Lopes is persuaded to hunt for a serial killer who is killing refugee women whilst he's also plunged into danger tackling the illegal trade in the vital mineral, Wolfram.
