Brian Dale Babiak MD

Brian Dale Babiak, MD is a psychiatrist and horror writer based in upstate New York. He holds undergraduate degrees in quantum physics and chemistry, trained in medicine at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and specialized in psychiatry. He has worked with adults and children across inpatient and outpatient settings, served on the Army-Iraq-Afghanistan Polytrauma Team treating veterans with severe complex PTSD, and has worked extensively with marginalized groups navigating the long shadow of intergenerational trauma.

Dr. Babiak writes experimental and speculative horror because what we most fear—and most fear losing—is often what we most need to survive. Horror, to him, is not merely genre but a method of exposure: it reveals the hidden architecture of the psyche and demands we reckon with the truths we’d rather bury. “Understanding the shadow,” he says, “makes us deeper, better human beings than those who try to deny it.”

He is a lifelong musician and a dedicated hobbyist bodybuilder.

Dr. Babiak has a growing body of work that explores the unsettling truths we carry beneath the surface.
