Barry A. Lehman

Barry Lehman is a licensed alcohol and drug counselor with nearly thirty years’ experience. He has worked as a school-based chemical health worker with students in middle and high school and in outpatient settings in Wisconsin and Minnesota. He was involved in developing the extended aftercare program and the outlining of the educational curriculum used in a residential program.

His newly published book, Buddy's War is a history of his father, "Buddy", as a medic with Patton's famed 10th Armored Division on World War II. It is also a memoir of Barry's search for information and reactions to what he learned. Much of this was lost history when his father died when the Barry was 16 years old. The power of memories, healing, and family are at the center of the story.

As an author and speaker, Barry has been a regular presenter at the annual conference of the Minnesota Association of Resources for Recovery and Chemical Health and has served on the organization’s ethics committee for many years. He has also led continuing education sessions at a number of Minnesota treatment centers. His own journey of recovery began in October 1988. His book, Mastering Recovery, is based on his years of experience both as a counselor and a person in recovery.

He has a Doctor of Ministry degree in counseling from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, a Master of Divinity from Moravian Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor of Arts from Lehigh University. He is a retired pastor, having served Moravian congregations in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. He has two previously published books.

Christmas Grace and Light is a collection of Christmas Eve stories. Kindle, paperback, and audio book, read by the author, are available.

Life in Tune is a collection of blog posts on his musical journey playing trumpet. He describes the first two-years of his "mastery journey" after over 50 years of being a trumpet player. In chronicles some of the things he learned when he took those steps to become more active in daily practice.
