Andries Bik

Andries Bik grew up amongst prostitutes as the eldest son of sex entrepreneur Jan Bik.

Jan Bik owns sex clubs from Maastricht to Groningen and has been a renowned name in the industry for over forty years. He has a clean slate at the judiciary, and only some minor struggles with the tax authorities, although they would love to see him collecting tax money from his ladies of leisure.

Andries is devoted to sports and has little interest in his father's clubs. He travels worldwide with his snow- and surfboard, either getting a thrill out of sliding downhill on Canada's first soft snow to riding the Australian coast's wild waves.

To afford this lifestyle, he runs a sports shop in Hilversum together with his friend and works as a plumber at his father's clubs, where he spends most of his time removing

condoms and tampons from the clogged toilets and washing machines.

When his father suffers a cerebral seizure, followed by a heart attack, Andries, as the eldest son, is obliged to support his father's affairs until he recovers. He takes care of the mail, pays invoices, and keeps the clubs running smoothly. His buddy Sjoerd is assisting Andries and

will continue to help Jan Bik when Andries starts to travel again. Jan directs and guides them both from the rehabilitation center in Utrecht, where he learns to walk and talk anew.

Then, out of the blue, the unexpected happens.

Three hundred men invade sex clubs, buildings, sheds, and houses in and out of the country. An arrest squad with drawn weapons captures Andries from his home.

Jan Bik and his wife are still in bed when they get arrested at the same time as Andries

but in a hotel in the Canary Islands.

Andries is suddenly the prime suspect: they hold both father and son accountable for swindling some 30 million euros.

Awful images flash through Andries's head on his way to jail. Will he fall victim to beatings and abuse, as he has seen in so many American movies? Or will he be able to survive and tell the story?

Grand Hotel De Bajes is the first part of a trilogy.

Here, Andries Bik takes the reader along to get an insight into his curious and bizarre life behind bars.

In part II Andries describes his childhood as the son of a prominent sex boss, an incredible story of a close-knit family, and growing up amidst the ladies of pleasure.

Unfortunately, this industry is also a magnet for crime.

Extortion, motorcycle mobs, and even abduction were impossible to prevent.

Will he be able to write part two in freedom? Or at Grand Hotel De Bajes?

After the trial, in mid-July 2020, the answer will reveal itself.
