Alexandra Kurland has built her life around horses. She is a graduate of Cornell University where she specialized in animal behavior. She began teaching in the early 1980s. Her area of particular interest is the development of a horse’s balance: physical and emotional. Helping horses to stay sound and happy throughout a long lifetime is the goal. The result are beautiful horses that feel like heaven to ride.
In 1998, Alexandra launched the rapidly growing field of clicker training for horses with the publication of her first book, "Clicker Training for Your Horse". Pre-pandemic Alexandra traveled widely, teaching at clinics and conferences. During 2020 she switched her teaching to zoom and discovered that this is a great way to help people with their horses.
She has written “The Click That Teaches: A Step–By–Step Guide in Pictures” and “The Click That Teaches: Riding with the Clicker”. She has also produced The Click That Teaches DVD lesson series, and an on-line training course, and on-line clinics. People outside the horse community may know her best through her weekly Equiosity podcast and as a member of the Clicker Expo faculty. Her most recent book is “Modern Horse Training, A Constructional Guide to Becoming Your Horse’s Best Friend”.
